Let’s just get straight to the point. We spend way too much money on food. Yes, I know living in NYC makes it hard, but spending six dollars on a specialty sandwich is not okay. Throwing some cranberry sauce on a turkey sandwich does not make it “special,” it makes it Thanksgiving leftovers. So, here are a few tips FIT students and I have come up with to keep your stomach full and your wallet fat.
What is AMC major Ava Wiland, of Chillan descent, doing to save money on food? “I’m going to the cheap Spanish grocery store with all the other Hispanics that are in the same sh**hole I am.” You go girl! Grocery shopping is the best way to save money on food. Here are some tips to follow when grocery shopping. Try to buy in bulk, it’s always cheaper. You can always store food in the freezer, so consider it a friend. For example, bread sale at the grocery store? Buy an extra loaf and freeze it to keep it fresh for longer. Always remember to shop around. Check out different grocery stores around your neighborhood to find the best prices.
Luckily, for those of you living on campus, I compared prices on some basic food items at local supermarkets to help you find the best deals.

School may be officially back in session, but the “Summer Live” program at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology brought students together from around the globe to hone their fashion skills and show off their individual styles. They all had one thing in common — a love of designer shoes. Footwear News hit the campus this summer to find out how informed today’s fashion hopefuls are on shoe brands, how much they’re willing to spend, and their all-time favorites.
